Visaranai (Interrogation) has made it to the final list of movies in Golden Globes nominees. The Vetrimaaran directorial has already won the best feature film for Tamil, best supporting actor and best editing awards in the 63rd National Film Awards. The movie has been selected from India to be nominated in the Oscar Awards, but it was not listed in the final nominees of Oscar.
The movie portrays the brutality of police interrogation and politics behind it. The story travels with four friends who were from Tamil Nadu goes to Andhra Pradesh in search of better life and income. But fate plays in their life, they land in prison wrongly accusing for stealing golden jewellery. Their experience in the prison and politics that presents them their death are the core of the movie.
The movie was a hard hitting one and not for the weak hearted. The director has made the viewers feel the pain of the prisoners which was the highlight of the movie. It has already won Amnesty International Italia Award in the 72nd Venice International film festival.
Now the movie has been listed in the final nominees of Golden Globe in the Foreign Film Submission category. The award function is scheduled to go live on January 8, 2017. Hope Vetrimaaran will bring laurels to the nation.
